Floyd County Youth Symphony Winter Concert Information UPDATE: SAT and SUN rehearsals and Concert have been MOVED TO Monday, December 9 New Albany High School. Concert will be at 7:30.
Rehearsals will be held earlier that evening.
Philharmonic students should report at 6:00 to New Albany High School. There is an email coming with details.
Mini Orchestra Students need to report by 7:00 pm Report to the Orchestra ROOM leave cases where marked, stay, tune and rehearse in Orchestra room. We will go to the stage at 7:15. Concert Dress: Mini-orchestra members should wear white dress shirts or blouses, black dress pants or skirts, dark dress shoes and for boys, black socks. Refreshments for after the concert: Mini Students need to bring a dozen cookies for the reception after the concert. Please drop off at concession area when you arrive. We encourage all mini students and families to stay for the whole concerts. It is beneficial and enjoyable for younger students to see and listen to the older groups.
Festival Orchestra: Festival Students need to be at NAHS before 5:30 pm – Report to the Band Room in basement to store your cases & tune. Proceed to the stage area for dress rehearsal at 5:30. DON'T miss this important rehearsal.
Festival Concert Dress: Men – Black slacks, Black socks & shoes, White shirts & Black bow ties. Women – Long black dress or long black skirt and black blouse. Skirts should be no shorter than 4” above the ankle, and dresses or blouses must have sleeves. (No glitter, sequins, velvet, lace or decoration of another color.) Black dress shoes and black or neutral hose.
Don’t Forget! Refreshments:Festival Violin & Viola students should bring orange sherbet, Festival Cello & Bass students should bring a Hawaiian Punch.
Silent Auction items may be brought in any time after 5:30 pm on Monday. Auction shopping will be from 5:30 through the end of the concert.
Concert tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for Senior Citizens, & students free.
Very Important!: If NAFC schools are on a 2 hour delay, we will still have the concert, If NAFC schools are CLOSED the concert will be cancelled and have to be rescheduled.

The Philharmonic and Festival Orchestras rehearse from 6-8:30 on Mondays and are open to string, wind, and percussion players of any age.
The Mini-Orchestra is for developing string players through 8th grade and rehearses from 4:30-5:30 on Mondays.
Membership is by audition only and requires that you are taking private lessons.
Members must also play their instrument in their school ensemble, if one is offered.
High School students can receive credit for active participation in the FCYS.
As music educators and students, we set as our goals the following:
to improve and grow as musicians by performing the finest music in the orchestra repertoire.
to serve as a musical outreach to our community and increase awareness of the wealth of musical talent among our young people.
to provide opportunities for performing in various environments including concert tours appropriate to the ages and musical abilities of the students.
to encourage growth as citizens as well as musicians.
