2017-2018 Auditions Dates 

August 27-29 2018. All auditions will be at FCHS in the Orchestra Room.

  • Mini-Orchestra Auditions Monday August 27, 4-6 pm (no signup required)
  • Festival & Philharmonic Violin & Viola Auditions Tuesday August 27th 4-8 pm
  • Festival & Philharmonic Cello & Bass Auditions Wednesday August 28th 4-8 pm
  • Philharmonic Wind & Percussion Monday October 29th 6-8 pm (no signup required)

The Philharmonic and Festival Orchestras rehearse from 6-8:30 on Mondays and are open to string, wind, and percussion players of any age. The Mini-Orchestra is for developing string players through 8th grade and rehearses from 4:30-5:30 on Mondays. FCYS membership is by audition only and requires that you are taking private lessons. Members must also play their instrument in their school ensemble, if one is offered. High School students can receive credit for active participation in the FCYS.

Important announcement: If NAFC schools are on a 2 hour delay, rehearsal or concerts will be held. If the NAFC schools are CLOSED, rehearsals or concerts  may have to be cancelled and concerts may have to be rescheduled. If NAFC schools cancels after-school activities, rehearsals are canceled and concert may have to be rescheduled.


As music educators and students, we set as our goals the following:

  • to improve and grow as musicians by performing the finest music in the orchestra repertoire.

  • to serve as a musical outreach to our community and increase awareness of the wealth of musical talent among our young people.

  • to provide opportunities for performing in various environments including concert tours appropriate to the ages and musical abilities of the students.

  • to encourage growth as citizens as well as musicians.
